This Golazo Manager beginner guide is for anyone starting their first career in Softick's football manager game for iPhone, iPad and Android. Golazo Manager is about one promise: grow a small club into champions. You sign players, set your tactics and watch every match come alive in a 3D stadium, and your first season is completely free with every feature included.

Below you will find what to look at first, how the seven playing styles work, how to use the transfer windows, how to keep your players happy, and how to grow the club itself, one season at a time.

Step 1: Choose your club#

Golazo Manager has 306 clubs across 8 countries, each with two divisions. That means you can start at the top of a big league or take a small side from the second division and try to win promotion. For a first career, a mid-sized club is a friendly choice: good enough to compete, with room to grow.

You can also make the club yours with its own name, badge and colours. The game is available in English, Russian and Turkish.

Step 2: Get to know your club's home#

The hub is where every season starts. It shows the calendar, your next match, your board's trust and the state of the transfer window at a glance. Check it before every match day: it tells you what is coming and how much patience the board has with you.

Step 3: Pick a playing style that fits your squad#

Tactics are the heart of Golazo Manager. There are seven playing styles:

  • Tiki-taka for patient passing and keeping the ball.
  • Gegenpress for winning the ball back high up the pitch.
  • Counter-attack for sitting deeper and striking fast.
  • Wing play for attacking down the flanks.
  • Direct for getting the ball forward quickly.
  • Park the bus for protecting a lead or surviving a tough away game.
  • Balanced for a safe middle ground.

On top of the style you set the mentality, pressing, tempo, width and defensive line. On the tactics board you pick a formation, drag players to any spot, and see how your lines compare with the next opponent.

Beginner tactics tips#

  1. Start with Balanced. Play a few matches, see where your team is strong and weak, then pick a style that suits it.
  2. Use the comparison. If the next opponent is stronger in midfield, a counter-attacking or more defensive setup can be smarter than trying to out-pass them.
  3. Change one thing at a time. If you change style, pressing and the defensive line all at once, it is hard to tell what worked.
  4. Match the style to the players. A high-pressing plan needs players who can keep it up. Wing play needs real wingers.

Step 4: Match day in 3D#

In Golazo Manager matches are really played, not listed as a stream of events. Twenty-two players move, pass, shoot and save, and your tactics, your players' form and their skill decide the result. You get TV cameras, replays from two angles and goal celebrations.

Every match plays out in the 3D stadium.

During the match you can make substitutions and change tactics live, at the speed you like. If you would rather just see the score, quick result plays the match in a second. A good habit for beginners: watch your important matches in full so you learn how your tactics look on the grass, and use quick result for the rest once you trust your setup.

Step 5: Use the transfer windows#

Transfer windows in Golazo Manager open and close on real football's dates in every country, deadline-day rush included. That makes timing important. Plan what your squad needs before the window opens, so you are not making panic buys on the last day.

The transfer market: filter by position, age, price and rating.

In the market you can search by position, age, price and rating, scout players and then make an offer. Some simple rules for a first season:

  • Fix the weakest position first. One good signing where you are thinnest helps more than a star where you are already strong.
  • Look at age as well as rating. Younger players can grow with the club; experienced ones help right away.
  • Scout before you buy. It is cheaper to learn about a player than to learn the hard way after signing him.

Step 6: Look after your players#

Every player in your squad has his own face, ratings, form and contract, and players have a voice. You agree wages, renew contracts, promise playing time, and can train players into new positions.

Your squad: ratings, form and contract for every player.
  • Watch the contracts. Renew your key players before their deals run down.
  • Keep your promises. If you promise a player playing time, plan to give it to him.
  • Retrain for depth. Training a player into a new position can cover a gap without spending on a transfer.
  • Follow form. A player in good form can be worth more on the day than a higher-rated one who is struggling.

Step 7: Build the club, not just the team#

Off the pitch you grow the club itself. Your ground can grow into a 75,000-seat arena, and you can add an academy, a training ground and more. Think of these upgrades as long-term investments: they help the club keep growing season after season.

What to aim for in season one#

Every season has goals and a story. You can win promotion, avoid the drop, lift the national cup and chase the European cups. Along the way the game keeps track of news, records and a hall of fame, with an awards night every season and a yearly gala for the world's best player.

For a first season, set a realistic target based on your club: survival for a small top-division side, a push for promotion in the second division, or a cup run if the league looks tough. Hitting the board's expectations keeps their trust high and gives you time to build.

Fair price: your first season is free#
