Looking for a Barnstorm dungeons guide after the 1.2.0 update? Dungeons are Barnstorm’s co-op PvE mode: one hero, four floors, a boss at the end of each, and loot that feeds both your dungeon progress and your ladder power. This guide covers every dungeon, how hero rest locks work, which spells to bring, and how to clear rooms without wasting a six-hour lock.

New to sieges? Start with the Barnstorm beginner guide, then skim what 1.2.0 added. Ready to play? Open Barnstorm or grab it on Google Play.

How Barnstorm dungeons work#

Each dungeon is a short campaign of four levels. You pick one hero and four spells, then fight monsters and a boss on every floor. Finish the dungeon and you earn its material; collect enough for that dungeon’s Chronicle badge.

  • Solo, open room or PIN room — bring friends (up to four) or clear alone.
  • Practice offline — rewards are shown, not kept. Online runs bank XP, materials and loot.
  • Hero rest lock — after a hero leaves a dungeon, that hero rests 6 hours before entering the same dungeon again. Rotate heroes so you are not stuck waiting.
  • Dungeon level power — leveling a hero in dungeons also adds a small PvP power bonus on the ladder (capped), so PvE progress is not throwaway.

Co-op dungeon tips that actually save runs#

Ember Abyss rooms hit harder: watch aggro radius and do not pull two packs into the same fight.
  1. Pull one gate at a time. Gates hold packs. Open the next only when the current pack is dead so you do not stack two rooms of damage.
  2. Spend Ember like a siege. You still refill over time with a 10-point bar. Dumping every spell at once leaves you empty when the boss phase starts. Same habits as our Ember tips.
  3. Bring a heal or a slow. Healing Draught and Quicksilver turn long boss fights; Smoke Bomb and Haste Tonic (free dungeon spell) help you reposition when the room collapses.
  4. Use hero fusions on cooldown windows. Some heroes fuse with a spell for a timed power form (for example Lion Knight + Healing Draught → Iron Lion). Save the fusion for the boss, not the first trash pack.
  5. Party size scales monsters. Two to four players makes packs tougher but drops better. If your group keeps wiping on floor one, drop to solo or a duo until your dungeon levels catch up.
  6. Leave with the bag if you must. Leaving keeps bag loot, then the hero rests. Finishing the floor is better, but a wipe that burns the run for nothing is worse than a clean leave.

Hero and spell loadouts for your first clears#

Any owned dungeon hero works, but sturdy front-liners make the first Necropolis clears less stressful: Lion Knight, Mamluk Guard or Lionheart. Pair them with a mix of damage and utility spells you already own from the ladder — Fire Pot, Arrow Volley, Healing Draught and Smoke Bomb are a reliable starter four. Haste Tonic is free in dungeons, so leave a slot for a real combat spell instead of doubling up on mobility.

For deck building outside PvE, the Barnstorm decks guide and fusion recipes still apply: dungeon spells come from the same card pool you climb with.

Dark floors reward patience: reveal, kite, then commit Ember.

What to farm and why it matters on the ladder#

  • Materials — Grave Dust, Bone Relics, Cursed Ore, Abyss Embers unlock each dungeon’s Chronicle badge.
  • Dungeon XP — raises dungeon level for that hero; more dungeon power inside PvE and a small PvP bonus outside.
  • Boss chests — the payoff for clearing a floor; do not skip a boss you already softened just to save a minute.

If you mainly care about trophies, dungeons are still worth short daily runs: the PvP power drip and card copies stack with caravans and the Trophy Road covered in the arenas guide.

Quick checklist before you Create Room#

  1. Hero is not resting on this dungeon.
  2. Four spells selected (and you own them).
  3. Friends know the PIN, or the room is set to Open.
  4. You agree who pulls the next gate.
  5. Boss fusion / big spell is still banked for the end of the floor.

Clear Old Necropolis once online, claim the early materials, then chain Catacombs when your second hero is ready. Softick’s other titles — Crop Siege, Golazo Manager and PlayHub — scratch different itches, but if you want co-op monster clears inside the Barnstorm card world, Dungeons is the mode.

Storm the gate on the ladder, then hold the keep underground. See you in the Necropolis.
